From my throat the sighs
as tears well in my eyes
I say farewell, my prettiest
to one exulted high
of women born the best
it’s the saddest of good-byes.
The world is rolling by
the dawn, the dusk, both nigh
I smell the rose, a geste
then drop it down in jest.
With many vows and sighs
my heart leaves you to rest
as I must confess
by thee I have been blessed
so I leave you now in misery
and all my wasted sighs
as I say again good-bye.
Tears drip from my eyes
from my throat the cries
a single rose on grave
lays from life bereft
why you had to die
I’ll never know the why’s
and all that is now left
a final sad good-bye.
