Sad eyes

You look at me with sad eyes
Your mouth smiles but your heart cries
Once full of dreams and fascination
Now you think you are stuck in damnation.

You put up a happy front for the world
But inside your mind you feel the hurt
You hide the truth and feed me lies
But you cannot betray your sad eyes.

You’ve lost all your tears, your eyes stay dry
You fear the release of the beast inside
It’s growing and waiting to get free
To still its hunger on you and me.

I see your world that you try to deny
You stumble in darkness, afraid of the light
You no longer search for the good inside
You’ve given up, I can see it in your eyes.

Shattered to pieces, all that you were
Living in sin, relishing hurt
That one time bright sparkle no longer shines
The shadow has set in your sad eyes.
